The main advantages of the new liquid-based Pap test are that almost 100% of the sampled cells will find themselves in the solution to be analyzed. They will also be scattered on a fine layer so that no masking of cellular changes will prevent the technician to detect precocious anomalies. If required, HPV testing may be done on the same sample avoiding return of the patient to the clinic for further examination.
