Food intolerance testing

Food intolerances should not be confused with classic food allergies which may be accompanied by intense reactions such as swelling of the lips and throat, rashes, attacks of sneezing, and the sensation of suffocation. Unlike conventional food allergies that cause reactions in a relatively short period of time, the effects of food intolerance often occur hours or days after eating.

To determine the presence of food intolerances we look for specific IgG (antibodies) to various foods. Food intolerances are quite different from allergies. They are very common and grow progressively as a person ages and can even surface spontaneously. Food sensitivities may already exist from birth as infants can display intolerances related to trace exposure via breast milk.

Because the symptoms of food intolerance are extremely varied, their presence may be difficult to detect without testing. Moreover, since intolerance induced activation of the immune system and metabolic changes may take place without the patient’s awareness. The link between health problems and nutrition can go undetected.

The repeated consumption of risky foods in the presence of food intolerance, may lead to the chronic stimulation of the immune system resulting in inflammation. Not only will these intolerances disrupt bowel function but they may also lead to chronic inflammation that in some people may appear as inflammatory diseases, autoimmune phenomena and allergic hypersensitivity such as chronic fatigue, colitis, Crohn's disease, celiac disease, eczema, type II diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis or even obesity.

As part of our commitment to your overall well-being, Crea-Med provides its clients with a single blood test that can identify the presence of 270 distinctive food intolerances that are most likely responsible for the reactions.
