Anti-Aging
Anti-aging and regenerative medicine
The peak of fertility in men and women occurs approximately between the ages of 15 and 25 years of age. After 25 the body begins to slowly age and fertility gradually diminishes. Overall strength declines and little by little, muscle mass decreases or changes into fat. Resistance to stress also decreases and after menopause or andropause set in, memory and attention become impaired, skin loses elasticity and organs atrophy.
Nonetheless, the rate at which one ages depends largely on factors such as nutrition, exercise and environment including external factors such as stress and internal ones relating to hormones. By measuring the impact of these factors on our bodies, we can slow this process and delay the onset of many of the symptoms associated with aging. Regenerative medicine is a form of preventive medicine that aims to restore and maintain optimal health as the patient ages.
Along with a healthy diet characterized by a low glycemic index and exercise needed to maintain physical fitness, it is often desirable to keep hormones up to their optimal level for our age. Because hormone levels gradually decrease from our thirties it is preferable to keep them in the upper third of the scale as it pertains to normal healthy individuals. Exceptions apply to insulin and cortisol which tend to increase with aging and should be kept within the lower third of the normal scale.
Anti-aging recognizes that it is the synergy between a healthy lifestyle optimal nutrition with a low glycemic index, proper nutrient supplementation, physical exercise and hormone regulation when required that can increase vitality and improve both the quality and length of life.
Our highly customized programs take into account the lifestyle of the patient, their medical history, emotional stress and personal goals. Although we may not be able to increase longevity, we may be able to prevent much of the degeneration associated with aging or even avoid premature death while helping our clients enjoy a better quality of life.
Our assessments are tailored to the individual. Additional indicators can be used to evaluate the suitability of further treatment. These include assessment of strength, flexibility, bone density, the ratio of lean body mass to body fat (measured by region and level of the whole body) and the assessment of memory and cognitive abilities.
